Page 2

In 2006, Governor Bredesen announced his intentions to create a new, low impact state park south of Nashville in either Williamson, Maury, or Hickman counties.Duck River Overlook

Community leaders in Hickman  county quickly formed a volunteer team to respond to the Governor's intentions.  The group carefully examined the natural settings in the county, took many photograph as they collected many more, and sought the recommendations of others.  The following is slightly edited version of the video production that the group presented to the Governor's office in January.

Our State Park Proposal

Special thanks go to the local citizen committee who prepared this presentation for the Governor's office: Rob Mitchell, Paul Aydelott, Wayne Richey, James Hassell, Polly Dyer, Elizabeth Thornton, David Dansby, Troy Dugger, Wayne Qualls, Darrell Phillips, Steve Gregory, and others.  Special thanks also to to Walter Tinnin, Elizabeth Thornton, and Paul Aydelott for the photographs used in the video.
