Our Farmland PDF Print E-mail

Most of our land area is still, technically, farmland. These farms fed our people for generations and prepared the way for us to move to better jobs off the farm.  Today, only a few highly productive farms remain; the remainder are reminders of the way of life just a generation or so ago.  The land is preserved today as are many of our traditions.

Century Farms

Hickman County has thirteen Century farms. The oldest is the Pruett Farm that was founded in 1810.
