Some of our communities go back hundreds of years--well just barely. Some of the history connects with what we're taught in schools, like Meriwether Lewis of Lewis and Clark.  Some of it supplements our knowledge of history with new details, like the waterfalls named for Andrew Jackson near the home of his good friend John Gordon.

Gordon House
Historic Gordon HouseOne of the oldest homes in Hickman County, built around 1817 now owned by the Natchez Trace Association.
Natchez Trace
WaterfallThis national parkway goes 450 miles from Nashville to Natchez, Mississippi.  It cuts across the southwest corner of Hickman County and passes many historic sites.  Many historical areas, scenic areas, waterfalls, and overlooks are well marked along the parkway.
