Duck River

Duck RiverThe Duck River is a 269 mile long river that drains a large portion of the heartland of Middle Tennessee.  The Nature Conservancy has classified the river as the #2 aquatic hot spot in the nation because of its biological diversity.  The river a few miles east of our area has been designated as a Tennessee Scenic River.

The Duck River at Centerville is a frequent site for Bass Fishing contests.  It's also great for really big catfish and other fish, too.

Piney River

A tributary to the Duck River, Piney River is a scenic stream of historical significance.  There are fourteen recorded archaeological sites, including extensive village complex and mound.

Piney has significant recreation from swimming, fishing, and canoeing.

Swan Creek

Swan CreekA tributary to the Duck River, Swan Creek is a beautiful, unspoiled stream that is home to a number of rare plants and invertebrates as well as a healthy population of deer and turkey.

Swan Creek is best fished by putting on some old boots, and wading up close to stumps and rocks to catch Rock Bass, locally called "Black Perch."

Other Streams

Beaverdam Creek, Cane Creek, Mill Creek, Ugly Creek, Blue Buck Creek, Falls Branch, and Hassells Creek are among the many smaller streams that feed these larger streams in the county.  Most are large enough for some fishing.

Both Piney River and Swan Creek are known for their extraordinarily clean, clear water.
